DR. WHO is a threat to little children television campaigner Mary Whitehouse claimed yesterday.

Earth-bound doctors reckoned that his intergalactic adventures could cause nightmares and bed-wetting among the under-sevens, she said.

The B B C-T V series was shown too early in the evening, added Mrs. Whitehouse, secretary of the Viewers' and Listeners' Association.

She was answering a claim by B B C-T V drama chief Shaun Sutton at a Manchester University symposium that Dr. Who taught children about courage, morality, humour, photographic tricks and fantasy.

Mrs. Whitehouse said that although the series was technically brilliant, it was more suitable for adults

"Young children often remember vividly the horrific pictures of creatures and go to bed in a tense state," she said.
