Jacob Anderson on swapping Westeros for the TARDIS<br />

After playing Unsullied warrior Grey Worm in Game of Thrones, Jacob Anderson is used to appearing in sprawling fantasy epics beloved by viewers all over the world.<br />
<br />
So joining the cast of Doctor Who this year as new character Vinder sees the actor back on familiar territory - and as a long-time Whovian, it's also a dream role for the star.<br />
<br />
'This is a bit of a bucket-list thing for me - I never thought I'd get this call, says Anderson, 31. 'When I was a kid, I had a babysitter who had videos of the Sylvester McCoy serials - she wasn't a very good babysitter so I watched them a lot.<br />
<br />
'All of those stories are seared into my memory. Now, whenever I am on the Doctor Who set and I see the TARDIS, my six-year-old self explodes inside my body!'<br />
<br />
Tapping into his childhood memories wasn't the only thing that excited Anderson about joining the TARDIS team. It also meant that he was reunited with Jodie Whittaker after the two of them originally worked together on ITV crime drama Broadchurch.<br />
<br />
'Jodie is the best: he enthuses. 'It's a really difficult thing that she does every day - there are some complicated concepts behind a lot of the things that she's saying, and she communicates it so beautifully.' Anderson's time on Game of Thrones also taught him to keep plot details secret from prying media and fans - something that comes in handy on Doctor Who where most things are kept under wraps until the episode airs. That said, we do know that this week's episode features the Doctor's old foes the Sontarans during the Crimean War.<br />

'When anybody gives me a contract and asks, "Are you going to be all right to keep secrets?", I'm like, "Oh, come on!"' he grins.<br />
