This delightful creature looks unnervingly like a reincarnation of flower-power pop singer Mama Cass, who was rather famous for being fat.

In fact it's comedian Alexei Sayle — rather notorious for being naughty with a one-man show festooned with four-letter words. He has cleaned up his act somewhat to appear in [[broadwcast:Revelation of the Daleks|tonight's DOCTOR WHO]] (BBC1, 5.20).

Alexei joins Colin Baker as the redoubtable Doctor and Nicola Bryant as assistant Peri to play a crazy disc jockey of the future.

"I think Doctor Who is brilliant — I've always been a fan. I got the impression they were rather amazed I agreed to appear in it though I was a bit worried myself," says Alexei, 32.

"I thought they'd ask me to play a decaying cabbage or something. It was quite a relief to look fairly normal."
