DALEKS, the mechanical monsters "killed off" in a TV children's serial are coming hark — by popular request. <br />

These robots — see picture above - were supposed to be frightening. But the young viewers loved them. <br />
<br />
When the BBC "liquidated" the Daleks early in the serial — Dr. Who — hundreds of children wrote in to protest.<br />
<br />
Some of the letters accused the BBC of cruelty. So now the Daleks are to be resurrected. <br />
<br />
Verity Lambert, producer of the programme, said last night: "It won't be until the autumn. New scripts have to be written to explain the come back."<br />
