| text = TOP COMEDIANS including Ken Dodd, and Richard Briers, are among the stars queueing up to join Doctor Who when he returns to TV screens in the autumn.

They will be joining the new doctor played by Sylvester McCoy in the new BBC series. Ken has been cast as the keeper of a galactic toll-gate in one of the series' four sci-fi adventures — joined by fellow comedians Hugh Loyd and American Stubby Kaye plus ITV's Bulman, actor Don Henderson.

Among the line-up of actresses joining the doctor and his assistant Bonnie Langford. will be Wanda Ventham, Brenda Bruce, Elizabeth Spriggs and Judy Cornwell,

And Dynasty's Kate O'Mara will be returning as the Rani while Tony Selby is also rejoining the cast as Glitz.

Dr. Who's producer, John Nathan Turner said: "Donor Who has become the Morecambe and Wise of the BBC — everybody seems to want to appear on the programme.

"I don't know whether it's because they've got kids or grandchildren who watch the show but the stars seem to bt queueing up to appear. It's very gratifying."

The new 14-week series — leading up to the programme's 24th anniversary November — will be the second since Michael Grade, director of BBC Tv programmes warned that it could face the axe if It didn't change its violent, humourless image.
