It has felt as though this series has existed on Tardis time, like we've jumped from the beginning to the end through the vortex without pausing for breath. The fact that it's only eight episodes in length has added to that sense of a journey cut short, but the absence of Ncuti Gatwa from the bulk of two stories has also left us feeling that there's still so much to learn about his Doctor, as well as the relationship with companion Ruby (Millie Gibson).
Writer Russell T Davies, though, has always known how to up the ante in his two-part season finales. And in part one (the conclusion can be seen next Saturday), we're very much in team-up territory, with the Doctor seeking help from his old friends in UNIT. Then there's the plot thread that's been woven throughout this run, namely the relevance of actor Susan Twist turning up in different guises. As we know, there's always a Twist at the end so will this mystery be solved?

FAMILY UNIT Mel (Bonnie Langford) helps the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) uncover the truth about Ruby (Millie Gibson, above)
